IS-MECH-2 Interlock Switch

Description
Lasemet’s IS-MECH-2 is a high integrity mechanical safety interlock switch designed for position detection of sliding, hinged, or lift-off machine guards. Engineered for industrial safety applications, it provides positive opening of safety contacts in accordance with IEC60947-5-1, ensuring reliable isolation of hazardous machinery when guard positions change.
The actuator design includes a tamper resistant key that forcibly deflects the internal switch plunger when removed. This ensures forced disconnection of the safety circuit, activating within 6mm withdrawal distance. The switch incorporates a built-in anti-tamper mechanism and is suitable for applications requiring up to PL ‘e’ Category 4 functional safety, as per ISO 13849-1.

IS-MECH-2 with Power to Lock
This variation of the IS-MECH-2 features a Power to Lock (P2L) mechanism designed to secure large guard doors until hazards are removed. The guard doors, or curtains, will be trapped in the switch and will not be released while the laser threat is active.
The P2L IS-MECH-2 switch is a durable, slim profile safety switch with 2000N holding force. The rugged die-cast body, optional stainless steel heads, and flexible actuators ensure durability and adaptability in tight spaces. With IP67 protection and 8 actuator entry positions, it offers reliable performance in harsh protection.

Laser Safe Interlocked Curtains
When setting up a laser-controlled area using Lasermet’s Laser Safe Interlocked Curtain, the ICS-9 Interlock® Controller will only activate the laser under specific safe conditions.
One of these conditions is that the Interlock Switch must be in the safe position (curtain closed), activating both channels and sending a message to the ICS-9 Interlock® Controller to enable the laser.
The Interlock Control System will not activate the laser if the curtain is open.
