Description

The ICS-9 Interlock® Controller from Lasermet can control laser interlocks, magnetic door locks, LED warning signs, laser beam shutters, and virtually all of Lasermet’s catalog of laser safety interlock equipment. The ICS-9 has full start-to-end dual channel architecture and fault detection to meet the latest safety standards to a much higher level than single channel systems. It has a simple, easy-to-use control panel and can be connected directly to nine interlocks (or groups of interlocks).

The standard ICS-9 has nine volt-free interlock operator output contacts which may be used for various purposes including:

  • Switching laser power
  • Controlling beam shutters
  • Operating the laser’s interlock input
  • Controlling door locks

The ICS-9 Interlock® Controller can also be interfaced to Access Control and Fire Detection Systems and other Building Management Systems (BMS) as needed.

Lasermet’s ICS-9 Interlock® Controller enables the laser to be powered by controlling the laser safety input. Additional features like feedback monitoring and fault detection can shut off the laser virtually immediately in case of a fault occurring.

Door Override protocols can be added for controlled access through interlocked doors while also accepting emergency stop inputs. The override is operated either by a push-button on the inside of a laser controlled area, or by a keypad-operated override. This will allow personnel to enter and exit the lab without disabling the laser.

NRTL Certification

The ICS-9 Interlock® Controller has NRTL certification, approved for use throughout the USA.

The ICS-9 has been tested by TÜV SÜD to IEC 61010-1 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use. Part 1: General requirements. It also fulfils the requirements of CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1:2012, UL 61010-1:2012 and EN 61010-1:2010.

OSHA’s Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Program recognizes private sector organizations so they can perform certification for certain products to ensure that they meet the requirements of both the construction and general industry OSHA electrical standards.

Flexible Expandable System

The standard ICS-9 unit has a deep back box with sufficient space for expansion cards and contactors to be fitted for additional interlocked 32A single-phase and 3-phase mains supplies.

ICS-9 has an expansion socket and can be fitted with up to 3 expansion cards. Expansion cards provide added functionality to the ICS-9 System.

X-RAY EXPANSION

With the X-ray Expansion Card, the system is adjusted for the use of pulsed lasers or lasers which need to be turned on and off frequently. These require the ICS-9 to disarm and arm the laser with minimal reset time.

Typical Interlock® Configuration

The standard ICS-9 has 9 interlock outputs rated 8A at 110/250VAC/50VDC. An optional contactor enhancement adds 4 interlock mains outputs rated 32A at 415VAC.

An unlimited number of interlock switches can be connected to the ICS-9. Monitoring is available for 4 switches or groups of switches. Likewise, an unlimited number of Emergency Stops can be connected and integrated into a Fire Alarm or Access Control System.
