Introducing DragonDoor: Lasermet’s New Standard for Medical Laser Safety

Lasermet is proud to announce the launch of the DragonDoor, the next evolution in safety for modern medical facilities. Purpose-built for laser, X-ray, and fire protection, DragonDoor represents a new benchmark in integrated safety design for hospitals, clinics, and research institutions.

A New Era of Medical Safety

As the medical industry advances toward more powerful and complex laser and imaging technologies, the risks inside operating theatres have similarly been ramped up. Traditionally, facilities have had to compromise with choosing between laser shielding, X-ray attenuation, or fire protection but with DragonDoor, those compromises end. This innovative door system is engineered to deliver comprehensive, multi-hazard protection in a single, high-performance solution.

Triple Protection. Zero Compromise. The DragonDoor has been specifically developed to address the combined challenges faced by medical laser rooms and hybrid treatment areas. It provides:

Robust laser blocking material capable of containing direct and scattered laser radiation.

Built-in attenuation for facilities utilizing both laser and radiological equipment.

Independently tested and rated for up to two hours of fire protection, supporting hospital fire-zoning and emergency protocols.

Engineered for Seamless Integration to Clinical Environments

DragonDoor is designed to integrate effortlessly with Lasermet’s interlock and safety control systems, ensuring complete operational protection. When paired with Lasermet’s Interlock Controller and interlock systems, DragonDoor becomes part of a fully interlocked safety environment — automatically preventing laser operation if the door is open or improperly sealed.

Additionally, the door can be fitted with the Interlocked Caiman viewing windows, allowing safe visual supervision of laser procedures without compromising safety. This interoperability ensures not only personnel safety but also regulatory compliance with international standards such as IEC 60825-1.

The DragonDoor is built to match the technical and aesthetic requirements of medical environments, including:

  • Dimensions and configurations suited to new builds or retrofits
  • Optional Caiman viewing panels
  • Integration with access control and building management systems
  • Surface finishes aligned with sterile or clinical design standards

Whether for ophthalmology, dermatology, surgical laser suites, or hybrid imaging rooms, DragonDoor offers a solution that meets both performance and compliance objectives.
