Er misst die Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit einer Sicherheitsfunktion, indem er die Wahrscheinlichkeit bewertet, mit der ein System seine beabsichtigte Sicherheitsfunktion bei Bedarf korrekt ausf\u00fchrt. Industrierobotern und Produktionsanlagen. Im Gegensatz zum SIL legt der PL den Schwerpunkt auf die Wahrscheinlichkeit gef\u00e4hrlicher Ausf\u00e4lle pro Stunde (PFHd) und ber\u00fccksichtigt dabei auch die Systemauslegung, Redundanz, Diagnosedeckung und die Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit der Komponenten.Das Leistungsniveau (Performance Level, PL), wie es in der Norm ISO 13849-1 definiert ist, findet breite Anwendung in der Maschinensicherheit, unter anderem bei Industrierobotern, Fertigungssystemen und automatisierten Anlagen.
