Laser Interlock Systems

Lasermet's Interlock Controllers provide control of an interlock system primarily intended to protect personnel from accidental exposure to hazardous lasers. They are able to monitor several doors, windows, curtains or roller blinds fitted with safety interlock switches and disable the laser if any are open.

The interlock control systems enable organisations to comply with best practice when providing laser users with a safe environment in which to operate hazardous lasers. Designed for maximum safety and efficiency, they are configured to provide automatic shut-off of the laser beam if safety doors, covers or blinds are opened.

Lasermet offers a range of Interlock Systems. All are designed to provide a comprehensive and highly versatile laser safety environment which is easy to install, operate and maintain. They are able to operate laser interlocks, laser power, beam shutters and warning signs and can be fitted with entry/exit overrides and emergency stop switches. A key-lock prevents unauthorised use.

Lasermet's range of ICS interlocks have collectively been widely regarded as the industry standard interlock family and are used in over a thousand laboratories, hospitals, clinics and other areas where hazardous lasers are being operated.

All Lasermet Interlock Systems meet the following European Standards:-

EN ISO 13849-1:2008 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment,
EN61508 (SIL4); EN61010:2001 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment and
EN 60947-1:2007+A1:2011 Low Voltage Switchgear for Electrical Equipment.

The Laser Interlock System ICS-5 is Lasermet's most popular laser interlock system. It is intended as a low-cost system for use in laboratories, clinics or hospitals and is supplied with a simple, easy-to-use control panel which can be wired directly to 4 interlocks or groups of interlocks.

The New ICS-6 "ELISe" (Expandable Laser Interlock System 'e') is designed to achieve EN ISO 13849-1 Performance Level 'e' (EN ISO 13849-1 PLe).

This compact, versatile unit can control laser interlocks, door locks, illuminated warning signs and other equipment. It can operate beam shutters and the laser power with feedback monitoring and fault detection. It can be interfaced to Access Control and Fire Detection Systems and is fitted with an Override to allow controlled access through interlocked doors while also accepting emergency stop inputs.

Its three expansion slots enable the options of network communications - for remote monitoring; integrating complex logic circuits (called Safety Logic Plus); and integrating active laser guarding systems (Laser Jailer).

The Laser Safety Interlock ICS-15XM is the most advanced interlock control system. The ICS-15XM is the most adaptable, expandable, all-encompassing laser safety interlock system yet developed by Lasermet. Its extended capability includes full dual channel architecture including dual safety and emergency stop circuits with separate dual channel control for each circuit. It can display up to 10 interlocks plus two emergency stop circuits. It has 9 output contacts for operating interlocks, beam shutters and door locks. It can be remotely monitored over a network and the internet with the plug-in expansion module.
